Local & Loved

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

This Valentine’s day we should all aim to spread a little love locally. When you live in an area as beautiful as we do, there’s no reason not to take advantage of nearby specialties. Savannah, Tybee, and the surrounding Islands all have something to offer and we want to show just how sweet we are on each spot.

Tybee Island

Nothing says “I love you” like starting the day with a caffeine buzz. Get your partner a coffee or cold brew from a beach shack boasting local art and handmade jewelry- Tybean Art & Coffee Bar. We are a fan of the Made by Baylie citrus earrings; Pair those with a dirty chai latte and who wouldn’t be in love!? From there, grab a jacket and head on over to North Island Surf & Kayak to see Shane for a few rentals and the best tips on where to get the perfect V-day photo! Round up the evening with dinner at Sundae Cafe. This place may sneak up on you, as it’s located next to a gas station, but the food is five star. Share the Southern Oysters Rockefeller with local shrimp, bacon, Parmesan, and creamed collards. Follow up with our personal favorite, the Sweet & Spicy Pistachio Crusted Tuna with a ponzu citrus glaze, wasabi aioli, bourbon sweet potatoes and broccolini.

Bonus Offer: Let Bubba Gumbo's Seafood Co-Op make you look like a real Chef with their 'Take & Bake' selection. Crab bisque paired with a Stuffed Lobster Tail is a sure-fire way to make your loved one feel special and earn you a few points! *Orders must be placed by Tuesday February 9 at 5pm*

Wilmington Island

With daily honey tastings, luxurious body care, and honeybee-inspired gifts, why not surprise your date by treating them with a visit to the Savannah Bee Company showroom. While there, enjoy a selection of honey wines or a mead tasting and schedule a bee garden tour as a follow-up date in March. If you plan on making dinner, Davis Produce is your next spot! Not only is a little local gossip the perfect spice for fresh veggies, but you can also peruse homemade local jams, hot sauces, and grab a bag of the best-boiled peanuts you’ll ever taste. If you feel like dining out, let us suggest starting out with the Tuna Tartare as a starter at Lili’s Restaurant & Bar, followed by the Seafood Stew with shrimp, blue crab, calamari, salmon, coconut milk, seasonal vegetable, and rice. All local, all of the time!

Historic Savannah/ Downtown District

Go beyond the flowers and heart-shaped box of chocolates for something a little more upscale this year. The locally owned Red Clover Boutique has beautiful jewelry and clothing that’s been handpicked by the owners and best friends Leah & Thu. From there, walk hand in hand with your love to what is considered the prettiest street in Savannah: Jones Street. With its red brick-lined street, shady trees dripping in Spanish moss, and mid-19th-century homes, we have to agree! As romance wafts through the southern breeze, you may realize you’re hungry and need a bite. Look no further than Elizabeth’s on 37th to make the perfect addition to your Valentine’s day. Southern hospitality, fine coastal cuisine, and well-chosen wines have made Elizabeth on 37th a favorite destination in Savannah since 1981; make sure to make a reservation. May we suggest their Spicy Savannah Red Rice with Georgia Shrimp? Yes, yes we may.

We’d love to know how you celebrated Valentine’s Day in Savannah and the surrounding areas. Share photos of your romantic dinner, shopping, or beach sunset using hashtag #LiveOnVacation!
